My new AOL TV column doesn’t officially debut until Sept. 1 — and debut it will, with a title and picture and everything. But when the nerd Batphone rings, you can be sure Mo Ryan will answer it, whether or not the Photoshop wizards have finished working on my column photo.
I found out that ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is breaking out the big guns for its impending move to Thursdays, and I just had to get this exclusive news out there now: Katee Sackhoff is guest starring on the CBS comedy again this fall.
The actress, who played Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on ‘Battlestar Galactica’ and Dana Walsh on ’24,’ won’t be in the season premiere of ‘Big Bang’ (Thurs., Sept. 23, 8PM ET on CBS), but keep reading for scoop on that one, too.
Sackhoff will return later this fall to the role she first played last year — the version of “Katee Sackhoff” who acts as the conscience of Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg). The episode will also feature the return of Melissa Rauch as Wolowitz’s ex-girlfriend, Bernadette. Continue Reading »

Motorcycle-riding celebrities joined forces with Kiehl’s (New York-based purveyor of skin- and hair-care products) in the fight to find a cure for AIDS, and to raise awareness of this devastating disease, by riding up the California coast from San Diego to San Francisco August 2-7, culminating in the donation of $85,000 to amfAR, a leading organization dedicated to the support of HIV/AIDS research. The ride was led by Chris Salgardo, president of Kiehl’s USA, and Alain de Cadenet, Le Mans racer and TV motorsports host, and included approximately 20 celebrity motorcycle enthusiasts.
The group made stops at Kiehl’s stores along the route to present donations – a total of $60,000 over the course of the ride – to amfAR. Kiehl’s also introduced a Limited Edition Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 15, which features a specially-designed motorcycle-and-flame motif, and donated up to $25,000 of the profits from the sale of this product to amfAR.

Battlestar Galactica Online Gets Some Familiar Faces Posted On: August 14, 2010
From IGN
When it was announced that Bigpoint – a developer of web-based games – had acquired the Battlestar Galactica license and intended to create an MMO with it (to be called Battlestar Galactica Online), it was met with a mixed response from our commenters. The response was based purely on the fact that it was to be free-to-play and browser-based, and typically browser-based is associated with “cheap and/or ugly”. There was understandable speculation that it would be a standard game with few ties to the much-loved Battlestar Galactica universe.
Today, it was announced that many major characters from the popular SyFy show would have a presence within the game, rendered in fairly impressive 3D, considering it is running in your browser.
According to the announcement, the game will contain the likenesses of:
Human
William “Admiral” Adama portrayed by Edward James Olmos
Kara “Starbuck” Thrace portrayed by Katee Sackhoff
Lee “Apollo” Adama portrayed by Jamie Bamber
Galen “Chief” Tyrol portrayed by Aaron Douglas
Katee Sackhoff and Sxv’Leithan Essex, the co-creators of the new comic Versus, revealed this first look at the title character recently. The art, drawn and colored by Essex, was supposed to be revealed at Comic-Con, but Sackhoff explained why that didn’t happen. “Things got really crazy for the both of us with a few other projects which unfortunately took time away from Versus,” she said. “We wanted Versus to have an impact at Comic-Con and had some very visual ideas to make her seen but time became the enemy and we don’t want her to get lost in the mix.”
Essex gave some background on the character: “We talked about everything to make her sexy but tactical. There’s a reason why her suit looks so pin up doll meets assassin. Versus has a hidden bunker where she has the best militant minds as captives to make her weapons, gather the intel she needs, and make her wardrobe. All of them have different types of Stockholm Syndrome which makes for interesting character dynamics: one thinks she’s insane, one is extremely sexually infatuated, another thinks she’s a God. Those parts are the most fun for us to write as we are very much about character driven pieces with major action sequences. You do the math on which one did the costume.”
The long-term plan is to turn Versus into a feature film, but not in the usual way. Said Sackhoff: “We want to build the storyline to a pinnacle where the feature film can take place. Still a jumping off point for moviegoers unfamiliar with her but not to repeat ourselves and give comic book fans something new and exciting to look forward to. Then have the issues after the film pick up where the film left off. That’s our goal anyways. Even if we get into making Versus into a videogame down the road, it’ll be part of continuity with the comics and films. Always fresh material that follows one timeline.”
